Kate specialises in providing fused glass workshops.  Experienced in working with a variety of groups, schools, technicians and private indivduals.  Kate has an enhanced CRB disclosure certificate and public liability insurance.   

Workshops can be tailor made to fit around themes and projects and can be adjusted to suit timetabling and budget requirements from hourly taster sessions through to Artist in Residency.

Artwork created during the workshops can vary from detailed jewellery to larger freestanding sculptural works.

Types of glass and their properties

How to cut glass

Glass Fusing

Inclusions, enamels and foiling

Microwave kiln work

Mould making

Slumping, sagging and freefall techniques

We are able to supply all equipment and materials necessary, either just for the course of the workshop or on a sale basis to establish glass working facilities.

The workshops we offer are as follows:

Glass fusing: a full day on how to cut glass, layering and firing techniques resulting in each attendee creating at least one finished piece of fused glass.

Kiln forming: a full day covering mould making, embossing, slumping, sagging and freefall techniques (frequently taken as a follow up to Glass Fusing).

Taster sessions: ideal for schools where timetabling does not allow extended workshops.  By working with a number of classes during the course of the day we can introduce a range of students to glass working techniques. 

Staff development: suitable for tutors and technicians.  No previous experience is necessary and detailed tuition will be given in a wide range of areas, including access to new technology and materials.

Project package: excellent value for money where a number of workshops are held to guide students through an entire project in glass incorporating numerous techniques.
